MYTIME Young Carers Wins at The Charity Awards 2025!

We’re thrilled to announce that MYTIME Young Carers has won the top prize in the Children & Youth category at the Charity Awards 2025 – the UK’s longest-running and most respected awards scheme in the voluntary sector.

This national recognition celebrates the incredible impact of our Level Up programme, which works directly with schools across the country to help identify and support young carers — children and young people who provide care for a loved one at home.

A Night to Remember

On 3rd July, our team travelled from Dorset to London to attend the black-tie awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, joining nine other category winners, the overall winner, and the recipient of the Daniel Phelan Award for Outstanding Achievement.

BBC News presenter Asad Ahmad, who hosted the ceremony, described the event by saying:

“More than the BAFTAs, more than the Brits, this is where you’ll see the stars of our country.”

Accepting the award on stage, CEO Krista Cartlidge was joined by four inspirational young carers, including trustees from our Youth Action & Advisory Board (YAAB), to share the moment and celebrate together.

Recognised for Real-World Impact

Our Level Up programme equips schools with the understanding, strategies, and resources they need to identify and support young carers academically and emotionally. Despite 69% of UK schools still reporting they don’t have any young carers, our work is changing that narrative.

Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
  • Worked with 260 schools across the UK
  • Trained over 4,000 staff members
  • Raised awareness among 50,000+ students
  • Identified nearly 3,000 young carers

Before receiving our training, only 34% of school staff felt confident identifying young carers, and just 27% felt equipped to support them. After taking part in Level Up, those numbers soared to 97% and 99.3% respectively.

A Powerful Statement

“Winning the Children and Youth Award is not just a proud moment for MYTIME,” said CEO Krista Cartlidge,
“It’s a powerful statement that young carers deserve to be seen, heard, and supported. This national recognition shines a light on the change that must happen to ensure they are not left behind.”

Charity Awards judge Farah Nazeer praised the programme’s profoundly impactful outcomes – including increases in school attendance and academic attainment among identified young carers.

Matt Nolan, Chief Executive of Civil Society Media, added:

“Huge congratulations to MYTIME Young Carers. Their decision to support schools in identifying and assisting young carers has already had a remarkable impact. They should be incredibly proud.”

We are so proud to win this award, and we know it is an achievement made possible by the young carers we support, the schools that work with us, the generosity of our donors and partners, and the hard work of the team at MYTIME.
