MYTIME hires Young Adult Carer Kierney!

20th May 2021

At MYTIME, we pride ourselves on the value of authenticity, representing the authentic voice of young carers, and staying true to them in everything we do. It is paramount to us as an organisation that young carers inform our work and help shape the future of MYTIME.

So when the opportunity arose for us to hire another young carer, we jumped at the chance. Our newest team member is Kierney.

Kierney is a young adult carer who recently graduated from our Employability Programme and now joins us in the Comms team as Engagement Coordinator.

Kierney, like all of the attendees of the programme - was super impressive. Seriously - these guys are primed to blow employers away with their commitment, dedication and drive.

Kierney

The team are very excited to have Kierney on board and with us on our mission to level the playing field for young carers. Here's what Krista, Emma and Ellie had to say:

Krista: "I'm so excited that Kierney has joined the MYTIME family. Her energy and enthusiasm are infectious."

Emma: "This is exactly what MYTIME aims to do, recognise the skillset that young carers have and provide them with opportunities. I'm so proud of Kierney and her commitment to the Employability Programme, advocating for young carers and taking care of her sister. This is incredible."

Ellie: "I first met Kierney on the Employability Programme. I was very impressed by her confidence, entrepreneurship and ability to express her experiences so eloquently. It's a MYTIME value to be authentic, we want to reflect the voices of young carers and young adult carers, and we want to do it properly with integrity to their situations. We want to create a visible culture of participation with young carers. As a former young carer, I understand some of the challenges she faces and the flexibility she may need. I'm so excited to be working with her and supporting her in her new role."

Kierney has been working diligently behind the scenes for the last two months, and we're excited about the imminent launch of her work.

Kierney is bringing a fresh perspective to MYTIME, and we can't wait for you to see it!
