MYTIME Young Carers offers a vital community, providing support and understanding to those who shoulder responsibilities of caregiving, with opportunities for growth, friendship, and empowerment through a range of programmes. For Callum, supporting MYTIME Young Carers is a personal commitment rooted in empathy and understanding.

Callum was introduced briefly to the role of a young carer during his family's journey in caring for his grandfather, who battled dementia. At just twelve years old, Callum and his siblings took turns assisting his dad in caring for him. While their experience was supported by familial love and understanding, it offered Callum a glimpse into the challenges faced by young carers every day. It became evident to him how vital organisations like MYTIME Young Carers are in providing essential support and resources.

In 2024, Callum is embarking on a series of challenges to support MYTIME and raise awareness for the most amazing children who care for a loved one. From completing Brave the Wave to participating in the 'Feb500' challenge, pushing himself physically is a testament to the resilience of young carers everywhere. Looking ahead, Callum is also excited to join MYTIME staff in upcoming events like March for MYTIME, team weightlifting days, and more. His ultimate goal is to tackle ultra marathons, symbolising the endurance and determination of young carers in overcoming obstacles.

Reflecting on his experience with Brave the Wave, Callum told us 'I realised the power of community in overcoming challenges. The camaraderie and support from fellow participants provided the strength and perspective needed to push forward, even in the face of adversity. Similarly, the MYTIME community, from board members to operational staff and young carers themselves, embodies resilience and inspiration.'

Fundraisers like Callum and the whole MYTIME team believe that no one should navigate the challenges of caregiving alone and that together, we can create a brighter future for young carers everywhere.
