The MYTIME Young Carers centre is perfect for smaller DofE groups. The centre has space for 28 to camp and the accommodation offers 24 beds inside which could be used by staff or DofE participants who are put off by the idea of camping or have additional needs.
The centre can be found in the beautiful Purbeck village of Worth Matravers just to the west of Swanage. The centre is located just off the South West Coastal Path and the UNESCO Jurassic Coast.
There are some incredible routes with varying degrees of complexity, which could be explored by DofE participants. The coastal path will allow DofE groups to take in some dramatic coastal scenery (great for those studying geography) such as Winspit, Chapmans Pool and Kimmeridge Bay. Inland there are routes which will take them past Corfe Castle and the Purbeck Ridge. Both of these options provide great opportunities to complete their aims. We can provide routes, accessible checkpoints and suggested aims for DofE leaders on request.
The camping facilities are basic, with access to an outside toilet and water tap. Groups who wish to have access to the centre will have access to a kitchen, toilets, showers and a large lounge area.
Having the flexibility to bring a group inside the centre is could be very useful during extreme weather which can often happy early or late in the season.
