Level Up Programme Demonstrates Success

We are thrilled to share some remarkable results from MYTIME's Level Up Programme in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP). As the area where we first began our journey, just over 3 years ago and have been working tirelessly since, we are proud to announce that BCP has the highest percentage of identified young carers on the census compared to any other local authority in the country, standing at an impressive 1.9%. This translates to a significant impact on the lives of 999 young carers in our community, 500 of whom are registered as young carers with BCP council a further 500 others who remain unregistered but are receiving support from their school and from MYTIME.

The statistics speak volumes about the effectiveness and necessity of the school support programme, Level Up. In primary schools nationally the percentage of young carers identified is just 0.3%. However, in BCP schools that number rises to an extraordinary 1.4%, making it the highest in England. This is a testament to our commitment in giving schools the tools they need to identify young carers. This helps ensure that their needs are met and they have a better experience throughout their educational journey.

Not only is the Level Up Programme excelling in primary schools, it is also making a substantial impact in secondary schools across BCP. The average percentage of young carer identified in secondary schools in England is 0.6%. In BCP secondary schools, that percentage soars to an astonishing 2.5%, once again demonstrating the effectiveness of the Level Up Programme in supporting schools to identify their young carers.

These outstanding results would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of MYTIME, BCP schools and the support we received from BCP council who supported us throughout the pilot and the launch of the Level Up Programme. Together we have created an environment where young carers are seen and recognised by their schools. This is vital in ensuring young carers have the opportunities and support they need to thrive academically and reach their full potential.

At MYTIME, we believe that access to high quality education and support, empowers young carers. Through the Level Up Programme, we provide bespoke assistance to schools which enables them to identify and support their young carers ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed in their education. We will continue to work tirelessly to amplify our impact and expand our reach, so that more young carers that ever before are recognised and supported by their schools.

Join us in celebrating the success of the MYTIME Level Up Programme in BCP. Together, we will champion for the rights of young carers and advocate for their well-being. Together, we can and will make a lasting difference to the lives of these exceptional young people.
